First ice outing of the year
Went out today to a couple of my favorite early ice pan fish spots. All the snow made for sloppy conditions in places as I had expected. 5-6 inches of ice was the norm though with the top inch or two being frozen slush. Plenty safe for myself and the dog. Minus 4 on the truck thermometer so it should be getting thicker every day.
I drilled six holes at the first spot. Didn't get a bite and didn't see a fish on the Aqua Vu. There was another guy near me who was having the same luck. I watched him move his portable 3 times before I called it quits on that lake and headed to Weaver. I was feeling good as a total lack of tracks showed me that I was the first person out on the lake. Another two hours later and another half dozen holes with no sign of fish led me to call it a day. Not the best start to ice fishing season but at least I got out of the house for a little while.

Let me know if you have had any luck on the ice!
