TOC Off Limits Day (so lets go trout fishing!)
Wed was off limits for the tournament waters. It was also the alternate tournament on Pool 5a. Our club got up early and saw our alternate off. He ended up getting a limit of 4 fish but was not high enough to fish back into the Thursday/Friday tourney.
While the alternates fished John Haynes, Ricky B. and I set out to look for some trout and to see if we could remember how to cast our fly rods. The weather was good for walking in 53 degree water and once your feet went numb it wasn't too bad. John brought waders so he merely mocked Rick and I as we groaned in mild agony.
None of us had ever been out for trout in South Western Minnesota but I had a map that showed designated trout streams. We tried a couple but never really found water that looked like good trout water. The stream bottoms were all sand. Consequently no trout were caught but a good time was still had by all.
Now off to re-tie my rods and get ready for Day one of the TOC. Stay tuned for updates.
